why do my pickles smell like rotten eggs or sulphur?!


Question: Why do my pickles smell like rotten eggs or sulphur?
someone i know pickled my favorite veggie in four different canisters. i notice the taste was watery yesterday. today the smell is very suplur-esque. does anyone know why? it smells like rotten eggs really bad. what chemical process/mistake in the pickling caused this smell?

The smell comes from bacteria. I wouldn't eat those if I were you.



They were not properly canned/sealed so they rottted instead of just becoming great pickles.
