Can you make a regular cake into a lava cake?!
I would like to make a large round one piece cake with a lava center?

No! I really don't suggest it. Real lava cake is a different recipe and the centre is actually undercooked so that it is gooey still when you cut into it. Don't try to use a regular cake, it won't work. (I have tried it. You will only make a mess). I
Instead, bake your cake all the way and when it comes out, de-pan it. When its cool, with a squeeze bottle or small piping bag, squeeze as much chocolate sauce into the middle as you can. I suggest something that is soft, but solid at room temperature. Here is a great recipe for the chocolate sauce:
Ingredients
? cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
6 ounces 70% bittersweet chocolate, cut into ?-inch pieces
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract or dark rum
Directions
1. Combine the milk, sugar, and corn syrup in a small saucepan. Stir well to mix, then place the pan over low heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
2. Remove from the heat, stir in the chocolate, and whisk smooth. Whisk in the salt and vanilla.
3. Pour the sauce into a bowl and cool it to room temperature, stirring occasionally. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and keep the sauce at room temperature if you are serving it on the day it is made.
Fill your cake while the sauce and cake are both cool. When you want to serve it, throw the cake in the oven at 200F (covered with something so that it doesn't dry out) for ten mins and then when it comes out, dust the top with some icing sugar and serve it!
