Make cake balls...its kind of the best of everything. And if you make them from red velvet they will look like a Valentines Day treat without being too girly. You can make them from cheese cake too. :)

I think you should see it from the guy's point of view, I don't think he could care less about cute cupcakes, let alone macarons, they're too girlie! Bake him 1 single piece of oversized cookie with choc chips and walnuts (or any nuts that he likes) - it's not too girlie and has a sense of humor, then put it in a box together with a personal love note. Go easy on all things pink and frilly, or in fact, forgo them completely.

Well, if he's not a big fan of cupcakes, probably steer away from that idea.
You could make brownies, fudge, home made chocolates, rocky road, caramel slice, vanilla slice, truffles, rum balls, cookies etc!
Home made chocolates would be cute because you could mould them into things he likes!

Personally if someone was baking me treats I'd like fudge or caramel slice :)

I would like the cupcakes more and I'm a girl <3 but I think you should buy a heart shaped cookie cutter and make heart shaped sugar cookies with icing and then you can decorate them with sprinkles or write stuff with icing on them :)

I would go for a good meat dish as mot men would prefer a great pie or similar.

If your heart is set on doing something sweet make a nice trifle,or a Pavlova if you have the skills.

How about something Italian like tiramisu. Pretty easy to make.
