In America it is considered to be. I think the Chinese, Japanese and Italians would disagree, and so do we here in the UK.

Spaghetti is just one shape of pasta (see also ravioli, orzo, farfalle, lasagne - you wouldn't go calling them noodles, would you?). It's Italian. It's made from wheat flour.

Noodles are Chinese and Japanese, can be made from all kinds of other things (rice starch, egg, etc.) and can be many shapes and lengths (but all of them long and thin!).
