What's the best cookbook ever?!
Answers:
The plaid Betty Crocker cookbook. It's got simple explanations of the basics, so its great for beginning cooks. But it's also got great fancy and everyday recipes so it continues to be useful even after you know what you're doing.

Except, mine's not an anniversary edition, so it doesn't look quite as cool.
20+ years of cooking
My absolute favorite cookbook is one my grandmother made for me when I was a kid, but I'll tell you what - The $5 Dinner Mom is quickly coming in at 2nd place. I use it constantly!

The New Doubleday Cookbook (with Elaine Hanna). Doubleday: 1985
The Joy of Cooking...I got it as a gift around 35 years ago and still use it all the time!
My kitchen bible for the past 50+ years has been the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book. I have about 2000 cookbooks and the first one I grab is the BHG.
I don't know if it's the best but I like it and it is a great reference book - The Joy of Cooking
My "go to" books are 'Joy of Cooking' "The BHG Gold edition"
My personal preference is Rachel Allen Home Cooking
HOW TO EAT .. Nigella Lawson
The silver spoon.
