What is a good technique for making shaved ice by hand?!

Question: What is a good technique for making shaved ice by hand?
I want to make a vanilla shaved ice as part of a dessert item I'm working on, could I freeze the mixture on a sheet pan & shave it off with a scraper or something? Might work but open to suggestion - thanks.

get a ice shaver or grab a knife to schave it off and put it in your cup/cone

There's an aluminum device that you load an ice cube into and the other part of the device has a couple of "ribs" running lengthwise, that when you squeeze the ice cube with this device, it fractures the ice cube into very small pieces. Not exactly shaved ice at that point, but small enough that you could use a rolling pin or other weight to smash the ice further inside a zip-lock bag to achieve the shaved ice consistency. This item is used at a home bar for single drinks that don't require a lot of "shaved ice". It works similar to a nut cracker.
