Can you use plastic candy molds as hard candy sucker molds?!

Question: Can you use plastic candy molds as hard candy sucker molds?
The other day I picked up some things so my daughter and I could make hard candy suckers but not thinking I grabbed a plastic candy mold instead of a metal sucker mold. Will these plastic molds melt when the hot candy is poured in? Also wondering if using plastic ice cube trays could be possible, or do they need to be metal to work as well?

When you are dealing with sugar that reaches the hard crack stage, such as required when making hard candy and lollipops, the molds need to be metal. Plastic molds will melt under the heat of the sugar
