Soft food ideas for a post-oral-surgery patient?!

Question: Soft food ideas for a post-oral-surgery patient?
My friend has recently gotten oral surgery (all 4 wisdom teeth) done on his mouth. Obviously, he's on a soft food diet. The surgery wasn't TOO recent, so his mouth has healed some, but he still can't eat anything too stiff or crunchy. I want to make him something SUBSTANTIAL to eat, because he has been living off of rice pudding and soup for about a week. Can you give me some really tasty, filling, soft meals I can make? Health benefits couldn't matter less, he has the metabolism of a squirrel on methamphetamines.

i had jaw surgery almost a year ago and had to eat soft foods for six weeks. i would recommend mashed potatoes, or even try cheese quesadillas, theyre soft and they taste good, especially when you haven't been able to eat much...you can also try macaroni and cheese (homemade is the best, but if you can't then just do box), hamburger helper is great too. since he cant suck on a straw (i'm assuming he can't because of the risk of dry sockets) you can buy some smoothies from smoothie king or jamba juice and freeze them for a bit til they are hard enough to eat with a spoon. soups are great, you can get a variety of them. if you have a zupas or paradise bakery/cafe around where you live go there and get some different kinds of soups

another thing you can do is get two pieces of bread and put some american or cheddar cheese on top of each piece, put them on the topmost shelf of the oven on top of aluminum foil, set the oven to broil and take out the bread when the cheese begins to bubble..this was my favorite meal...hope this helps.

personal experience

When my youngest kid had braces, when they had to be tightened, she couldn't chew for about 3 days each time. But, she was starving (she's an athlete and burns a lot of calories). I bought a little food grinder (you can use a blender) and I would put anything in there and blend into a paste. I put tacos, casseroles, meat, etc. You just have to add a little liquid to get it to blend smoothly.

And hummus - she ate a lot of hummus.

Good luck.

curry!

Make some potato and pea curry, with rice, garlic naan ( soft) and some onion bhajis- I had wisdom teeth out and it's boring.
A curry is soft and easy to digest and is gentle on the mouth.

GO crazy- Indian food is substantial.

Tuna casserole, frittata, chicken and dumplings, egg noodles in thickened chicken broth, creamed chicken and biscuits, macaroni and cheese, welsh rarebit, grilled cheese sandwich, cream of potato soup, mashed potatoes and gravy.

Scrambled eggs, applesauce, mashed potatoes, baby food, smoothies, yogurts, oatmeal.
