Answers:

You mean American Cheese? Nasty! If you only have 1/2 a bag of cheese, use a smaller lasagna pan and make less.

First of all, classic lasagna has 2 types of cheese in it: Ricotta and Mozzarella. The ricotta gives it that creamy texture as well as holding the noodles together. The mozzarella cheese is important because of its ability to melt, and melts better than most other cheese. Second of all, it would be gross with american cheese, or whatever you are using. I strongly suggest that you use ricotta and mozzarella as this is an Italian dish, and those are two Italian cheeses.

I presume that you bought the uncooked lasagna at a grocery or supermarket. Especially for first timers, I would follow exactly the instructions that come on the outside of the box. There should be no problem.

What kind of cheese is the sandiwch cheese? If it is American then No way, also if it is a spicy cheese I would avoid it.

But swiss, provolone, chedder etc... would all be Great.

Use real cheese! That's mozzarella, ricotta, and parmesan. Definitely not processed cheese! Ewww!

Just go with the half bag of shredded cheese. It won't be as much as you need, but it will be ok. That would be much better than using the American slices.

Don't use the sandwich square cheese. That really would be nasty.
Half a bag of the shredded is okay, but more would be better.
