it is white starch



Yup. It's the starch boiling out. Most processed white flour pastas will do this. It's not harmful, though not entirely healthy. I'd recommend a spinach, tomato, or whole wheat pasta if it bothers you.



Yup, starch. Italian cooks will tell you not to toss the pasta water-if your sauce is a little thin, adding 1/2-1 cup of the pasta water will thicken it up.



It is just the starch that is in the pasta and you skim it off the top with w large spoon.



It is the starch in the pasta coming out. It is normal.
