I have some turkey drumsticks that I have realized expired today can I still cook them?!

Question: I have some turkey drumsticks that I have realized expired today can I still cook them?
I kept them in the refrigerator and they do smell a little funny. If I cook them at 350 degrees with it kill the bacteria? Or should I just go buy some fresh turkey drumsticks. I just hate to waste them.

If in doubt, throw it out....

If they smell don't take the chance chicken turkey any meat for that matter if it smells don't eat it. It isn't worth taking the risk of getting really sick. Go but fresh ones. But you could cook the ones you have and if you know a dog that eats table scraps give it to the dog. I have done this very thing I don't know what it but the dog can handle it. Heck they eat raw meat and don't get sick. Just never give a animal uncooked pork The dog can get parvo a very slow and painful death if not caught in time. Sorry for the extended answer.

smelling funny not a good sign. some meat smells weird if you aren't used to it, have you bought turkey much before to know the smell?
Does the meat feel slimy? this is another sign of it having turned. You don't want food poisoning. Remember this one next time you want a sickie off work...." Sorry boss, can't come in today. Cooked some Turkey that didn't smell right" !!! Bank the excuse for the future!

Rinse them in cold water. If they still smell, they have turned. If they do not smell, then proceed with your recipe and cook them as you would cook any poultry: until it is done.

If they have not been frozen, try washing with cold water, pat dry with paper towel.
Any temperature above the boiling point (212F) will kill the bacteria.

If cooking killed all the dangerous bacteria that are related to spoiled food we wouldn't have to worry about spoiled food

Rule of thumb: It's expired, toss it.

manufacturers usually make the expiration date a bit earlier than it actually is-- and anyway, if it really is only one day expired, they wont hurt.

Gross.

You're not "going" to waste them...

They're already wasted...because they smell...which means they've rotted.

Throw them out unless you want to get on the Botulism weight loss plan.

ewww

Yes. You can. If they've been properly refrigerated you can still cook and eat them.

If you cook them properly and they are only expire today then they will be fine to eat. You could probably even keep them a couple of days.

No, if they smell funny then they are no longer good. Toss them in the trash and move onto something else.

Personally, I would never eat something that smelled funny. It's not worth the chance to me.

They should be ok as long as they had been refrigerated.

I would use them, but make sure they are cook thoroughly.

bake then at 350F and let me know when they will be done. Should I bring some wine?

no u might get food poisoned
