Question about icing sugar and baking powder?!

Question: Question about icing sugar and baking powder?
ok two simple (hopefully) questions. first do you have to pack down baking powder if you were to use a lot of it like brown sugar? and second what type of measuring tools would you use to measure icing sugar? (example: dry measuring cups, liquid measuring cups, measuring spoons..)
thanks in advance

No you do not pack down baking powder or flour. You would use the dry measuring cups or measuring spoons. Your liquid measuring cups are used for liquid.

Baking Powder and Baking Soda are used in very small amounts. You need standard measuring spoons to measure it. NO! do not pack it!! There are only a few things that need to be packed and they are listed in recipes as needed.

Ok, I measure all sugars with dry measures!! They are all dry ingredients so the dry measuring cups work best.

Honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, etc should all be measured in a liquid or glss measure cup.

to make getting them out of cup easiest, I measure the egg whites first!! It makes the other thicker liquids come out much easier! Sort of swirl the egg white around the inside of the measure cup then pour into bowl for beating. Immediately before the egg white coating dries, measure your syrupy ingredients.

I have measured the syrupy ingredients immediately after doing the veggie oil also. This also helps to get all the syrup out fairly easily.

Rule 1! If it is liquid, use liquid measure cups.
Rule 2! If it is dry, use dry measure cups. fluff the ingredient, spoon gently into ccup, use knife blade to level the dry measure. Do NOT pack anything except brown sugar when stated in recipe.

You don't have to pack down the baking powder. But it is a reasonable question. As for the measuring of th sugar, the volume might be different than normal sugar so if you want a suggestion and you have a digital scale, do the measurement by weight and not by volume (cups, spoons, etc.). Good luck, I think regardless you they will turn out fine.

Use dry measures for baking powder and icing sugar and do not pack them in like you might brown sugar.
