cookie decorating: would this work? painting the cookie frosting with food coloring?!

Question: Cookie decorating: would this work? painting the cookie frosting with food coloring?
if i decorated cookies with white frosting, and then after it dried, mixed up a mixture of food coloring and water, and took a paint brush and painted the details onto the frosted cookie?

I have a cookie cutter shaped in my school's logo... i want to decorate the cookies with the proper logo colors, but it literally takes almost ten minutes each cookie to decorate using the 3 different color frostings, and it also takes a very steady hand. painting would be sooo much easier... but would it work?

I wouldn't recomend it as the food coloring will run and bleed.

Look for cake/cookie decorating markers.

Or if you must mix a little of the gel pain with vodka or other alcohol as the alcohol will dry quickly where the water will just make and keep the frosting soggy.

I don't think it would---the food coloring would just sit ontop of the frosting, like a liquid on a wooden table. A better idea would be to reserve some of the white frosting and dye it, you can even thin it down a bit with some milk, or in the microwave, and then use it like a paint on your frosted cookies.
