Is store bought whip cream the same as heavy cream?!


Question: Is store bought whip cream the same as heavy cream?
I'm trying to make homemade ice cream but I don't have heavy cream but I do have whip cream
will that work?

No it is not.

First of all store bought whipped cream/cool whip is not even cream. It is sweetened flavored oil.

Heavy cream is what you use to make Real whipped cream.



"Whipping cream" that comes in a carton can be used, so can "Heavy cream" packaged the same way as well as "Heavy whipping cream". Those are all products that can be used in your ice cream

Whip cream that comes in a tub or a can is not the same thing and will not work.



Whipping cream (liquid) is the same as heavy cream.

Pre-whippped cream (cool whip or in the pressurized containers) cannot be used in place of liquid cream.
