Manicotti and Cannelloni are both large tubes of pasta that are stuffed, sauced, and baked. Manicotti is often stuffed with ricotta cheese and/or spinach. It is also covered in red sauce and sprinkled with some mozzarella cheese. Cannelloni is usually stuffed with meats, veggies, cheeses, and covered in a bechamel sauce, which is a white sauce....

Hope this helps.....

A type of stuffed baked pasta, manicotti translates as ?sleeves? in Italian and refers to large, tube-shaped pasta shapes/noodles.

Cannelloni are effectively the same shapes, however the strict difference is that these are created by rolling rectangular pasta sheets into tubes, whereas manicotti are pre-formed tubes.

In truth though, what with Barilla pasta offering pre-formed packet tubes that are called - you guessed it - 'cannelloni', the difference is rather becoming lost!

While manicotti and cannelloni are sometimes used interchangeably in preparing Americanized versions of some dishes, in traditional Italian cooking cannelloni are made with pasta and manicotti with a specialized crepe pan.
