How long can Popsicles and ice cream stay out of a freezer?!

Question: How long can Popsicles and ice cream stay out of a freezer?
I'm visiting my friends in a town that is 3 hours from where I live and I decided to do my groceries here and im going to be driving back tomorrow but im afraid that the popsicles and ice cream will melt. They are in the freezer right now but does anyone know how long it will take before they start melting and make a big mess in my car tomorrow? or is 3 hours ok?

Answers:

You can wrap the frozen popsicles and ice cream in a towel and then in a plastic bag. Then wrap in another towel or two and put all in a cardboard box .Put everything in your trunk and all will be fine.If you don't have a trunk then put it as close to the rear of the vehicle as you can. If the weather were warmer then it would not make it home, but since it is winter you will be fine.

3 hours is definitely too long. Unless you get one of those special bags that keeps groceries frozen, you probably won't make it home without a big mess. Not to mention that when ice cream melts, even just a little tiny bit, it changes the structure of the ice cream and it becomes grainy or icy when you refreeze it. Basically it ruins it. You should of just bought the frozen stuff closer to home.

no 3 hour is too long.. the ice cream would probably melt

just get a bucket and fill it with snow + ice and put your ice cream there
you would also need to open your car window a little so the snow doesn't melt + don't turn on your heater

Depending on the outside temp., 30 vs. 70 degrees, if it's in the trunk, probably to not a chance. Why not try picking up a cheap styrofoam cooler, or an insulated bag.

Depending How Frozen They Are When You Take Them Out.

Just Buy Yoor Ice Cream There Silly!!!

Or My Nephew Said To wrap Them In Trash Bags And Then Place them In A Cooler.

You bought frozen goods 3 hours from the freezer? Why on earth...?

Nevermind... no, it'll melt unless you keep it well insulated. Or drive home with you windows down.

3 hours is long enough
