How to store cut vegetables?!

Question: How to store cut vegetables?
How to store cut vegetables?
I've recently begun cooking a lot. Many times I only need half a vegetable and have to store the rest. However, whenever I put them in the fridge it just becomes inedible after a while (in a couple of hours sometimes). Especially with tomatoes, cucumbers or onions...if I place half of it (not chopped up, but sliced in half) in the fridge it becomes all translucent, frozen (at only fridge temperature) or just feels weird. Is there any way to get around this problem? or is this just normal and will happen regardless? (I usually dont cover the vegetable or use an air tight container)

Covering the veg with shrink wrap helps, especially when dealing with tomatoes and cucumbers. They get dry because they become dehydrated when in the fridge. By wrapping it you keep the moisture in.
You could then put then into an air tight container.

Generally by putting them into something to keep the moisture in then your problem should be solved.

Use all the veg you cut for it is a false economy to save bits of each. And since you are unaware, a cut onion should never be saved, since it soon gives off a poisonous vapour.

Cover the vegetables or use an air-tight container.
