problem with plastic whisk?!

The whisk itself is probably ok but where did you get the "molten plastic" you used? It sounds like you added plastic to fix the break much like one might use glue to fix other things.
Plastics intended for use with food have to meet specific requirements for food safety. Other plastics do not and no amount of soaking will fix that.
Suggestions for free or low cost replacements:
check out to see if you have a freecycle group in your town (www.freecycle.org). Perhaps a neighbor has a whisk they no longer need. You could also try the local dollar stores or even the thrift shops.
