I like white bread..I also like whole wheat bread..If you listen to all the hype..everything at some point is bad for you...I eat what I like..in my opinion if you worry about everything that is bad for you...that can't be good for you...LOL

Enjoy life...You only get one chance...

White bread is made out of white flour. White flour is usually highly processed and bleached- which takes out nutrients, fiber and overall, just makes it less healthy.

It also breaks down quickly into sugar in the body (high glycemic index) so it makes your blood sugar spike and then crash quickly, which causes a whole bunch of problems long-term. Typically, foods high in starch, like white bread, should be eaten in moderation, if not avoided completely. They're connected to a lot of other illnesses- diabetes, etc.

Some of the healthiest kinds of breads I've read about before are those with more fiber in them like: pumpernickle and rye to name a few. They break down into sugar a lot more slowly and are better processed by the body. Hope that helps!

white bread is refined and has little nutrients and dietary fiber.
the refining process removes the husks and all of the healthy-for-you stuff in the grain. then it's bleached with products containing chlorine and dried in kilns at a high temperature to kill all of the beneficial nutrients. gluten, sugar, and salt are then added. it lacks of any useful dietary benefit whatsoever.

Negative effects:
1. eating these kinds of carbohydrates causes a rapid rise in blood sugar levels, which triggers our body's sugar regulating hormone, insulin. this causes diabetes.
2. raised levels of bad LDL cholesterol in your bloodstream. this can cause heart disease or blood clots.
3. changes metabolism, reduces efficiency in digestion, and causes fat storage. this is one of the main reasons why people who eat white bread have a hard time losing weight.

whole grain breads are a healthy substitute.

hope this helps...I'm not an expert, I just summarized the information on the web page.

Bread is not suppose to be white at all. A bleaching process was incorporated into bread making to give flour and the bread it makes a longer shelf life in the grocery store. During the process of bleaching most of the vitamin E antioxidant is lost, as well as the essential wheat germ and bran, which leaves only poor quality proteins and fattening starch. Wheat germ and bran is known to:
Lower cholesterol
Combat colon cancer
Prevent constipation
Help stop strokes
Protect against heart disease
Improve digestion
In addition, the flour is stripped of nutrients including 50% of all calcium, 70% of phosphorus, 80% iron, 98% magnesium, 75% manganese, and 50% potassium.

White bread, like doughnuts, coffee cake, bagels, have what is known as high 'glycemic index'. They convert to sugar more rapidly than other foods, and cause your pancreas organ to pump out lots of insulin to offset the sugar. This is the way diabetes gets started.
Also, just calories, but little food value,(don't have protein and fiber), also called 'empty calories'.

Almost all of the nutrients are lost during the bleaching process, so it's just empty calories you take in. It has very little nutritional value. 100% wheat bread, on the other hand, is very good for you because it has lots of vitamins and nutrients. Wheat bread is a whole grain food, which is essential.

People say its very bad because it's so much more processed than wholegrain, and contains less nutrients than brown, it also is meant to contain more unnatural sugar than wholegrain and it dosen't make you feel as full...however i don't think its bad...depends what you eat with it i guess!! lol x

White bread isn't bad. It is just simply not as good as bran or whole wheat.

The reason for this is because the bleaching process to turn it white removes a large portion of the nutrients.

Wonder+ is just a marketing sceam, whole wheat is still better. xD

Mmm gotta love bread :D best of luck

it's because of all the sugars that it has. bread isn't supposed to be white anyway, the whole process of making white bread basically strips the nutrients out of it.

It isn't. It's just not as good for you as brown bread which retains more of the nutrients and fibre.
