Is blood pudding made out of blood?!

Question: Is blood pudding made out of blood?
If yes does that mean English are vampires?

Answers:

It can be made without blood or with blood. Depends on where. Many cultures use animal blood or just use a red food dye.

I know none who use human blood.

Sounds gross right?

Black pudding or blood pudding is a type of sausage made by cooking blood or dried blood with a filler until it is thick enough to congeal when cooled.

The dish exists in various cultures from Asia to America. Pig, cattle, sheep, duck and goat blood can also be used depending on different countries.

In Europe, typical fillers include meat, fat, suet, bread, sweet potato, onion, chestnuts, barley, and oatmeal while in Spain and Asia, potato is often replaced by rice.

In essence, no it does not mean they are vampires. But in many countries and cultures, there are people out there that drink raw animal blood and consider themselves vampires.

It most certainly is! BTW we (English) call it black pudding as blood pudding sounds totally gross. In Germany it is called Blutwurst... In Spain Morcilla cocida... Most European countries have a version of Black Pudding. I cannot imagine it being available in an US supermarket, but I bet it is still sold at independent butcher's where they have a high immigrant population or historic connections with the "Old Country" whichever that may be.

I shall ignore the sub-question... It is just silly and immature.

Yes and no. Don't assume that just because a food isn't commonly eaten in the US, that there's something wrong with it. There are more cultures in the world that eat insects as part of their diet than there are those who don't. A lot of countries eat blood.

People in parts of the US eat bull testicles, and people on the eastern shore eat soft shelled crabs, which are sort of nasty looking. It's all a matter of what you were raised with.

It actually does have animal blood in it. Not human blood though. It is very common throughout Europe. It is a combination of animal blood, suet, grains, raisins or currants, and spices, which cause the resultant sausage to look either deep purple or black.

in canada it is known as blood sausage. it is very common among the french canadians. my boyfriend is french and his family makes it all the time. I,however, will not go near it. i can't get past the fact that its made with extra blood. but my boyfriend loves it!

Yes, blood is one component in blood pudding. It's not just the English who make it: it's very popular in France and Spain, too. Vampirism relates to drinking raw blood, which is quite a different matter.

Its made of Pig's blood. If we were vampires, it'd be human blood and wouldn't be stale.
