What can you do with bitter (frozen) strawberries?!

Question: What can you do with bitter (frozen) strawberries?
I got some at the dollar store. We tried eating them, adding more sugar than berries by the end of it! Way too much sugar, still bitter.
What can I do next time? Certainly there's a reason people buy them, or they wouldn't be sold.

Answers:

I always sweeten with sugar...Maybe next time sprinkle with sugar and let them sit in the fridge until you are ready to eat them....

I use them in smoothies and they are not sweetened...I just add juice for the sweetener..There is a glaze you can buy that is used for strawberry shortcake...Not sure if you can buy it year round though...

Hope this helps...

Frozen berries never do well they always come out mushy and ill tasting, I think it's better to pay extra for fresh. Once we bought a can of strawberries out of curiosity, they were suspended in syrup much like tinned peaches but when removed from the syrup they dissolved instantly into a glob of pink goo.

make a smoothie. strawberry muffins. add them to cereal. to ice cream. to yogurt. or mash them and put it on toast.
