Lazy Man's Chili

1 jar or can of high quality store bought chili, without beans
1/4 lb of browned ground beef
1/4 to 1/2 cup water or beef broth
1 can of pinto beans (undrained), if desired
1/4 to 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper.

Place all ingredients in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until steaming hot. Top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired. Serve with cornbread or crackers or simply over cooked rice (brown or white).

You can substitute ground chicken or turkey in place of the beef.
Be careful with the Cayenne pepper.

Most people just cook the meat first in a skillet but, Sure it will just take a lot longer to cook the meat first if you dont have a skillet cook the meat on high in your crock pot first then drain the juices the same way you would in a skillet. you should cook it until its no longer pink in the should be golden browned. Then follow the McCormick instructions. and let it slow cook try adding some things like onions or beans if you have them.

i would say 6 hours in the crock pot on low, or even overnight, though you might not want to do that on your first try. do brown the meat on top of the stove first. wick Fowler's 2-Alarm is a great mix --- for less "alarm", omit the cayenne pepper.

Again, crock-pot info - you will not get much evaporation, if any, with this method, so limit the water to what you think you want in the final batch.

It would be a great waste of time.

You would need to brown the mince and transfer to the crock pot and add the seasoning mix, add half a cup of water and cook on nigh for an hour, and then reduce heat for another couple of hours.

It would take me 30 minutes to do in a pot on the stove.

cook the meat in a pan, then add it to the chili in the crockpot, just dont make it too hot in temperature.

also, i like the five alram chili kit.
just use what u want.
i toss in diced tomatoes mexican flavor drained.
three kinds of beans. black, pinto and white
and ground sirloin is great.

Sure, you can make it in the crock pot - but you'll still have to brown the meat in the skillet first.
Since it cooks at a low heat, I'd say at least a couple of hours in the crock pot.

For food safety, brown the meat first in a skillet until pink is gone.
Then transfer to the crock-pot & follow the rest of your recipe.

Brown the meat in a skillet first then put it in the crock pot with the seasoning an whatever else you would like to add

u do not need to put it in the crock pot. just put it in a large sauce pan.
