You need to add a raising agent such as baking powder to your all purpose flour.
Baking powder is a mixture of baking soda and cream of tartar. You need to add 2 teaspoons of baking powder to every 1 cup of flour then sift thoroughly to ensure it is well mixed.

Using a dry measure, measure the desired amount of flour into a separate container.
For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Mix to combine.
Tips:

You can use self-rising flour in yeast bread recipes, but you'll need to omit the salt.
If you use self-rising flour as a substitute for all-purpose flour in a quick bread, omit salt and baking powder.
What You Need:

all-purpose flour
salt
baking powder

Do you need bread or self rising flour? There is a big difference.

If you need self rising, add 1 tsp. of baking powder to 1 cup of all purpose flour.

For bread flour, you may be able to use your all purpose instead. If it is unbleached, you have a chance. Look at the nutrition facts. If the protein in the flour is 11 grams or more, which it usually is for unbleached, you should be fine using it.

I use these tricks all the time!

If you're out of bread flour, use all-purpose flour with a tablespoon of vital wheat gluten for each cup of flour. You can find it in the baking section of your grocery store.

you will need baking soda baking powder
