Found spiders in cake flour? (EWWW)?!

Question: Found spiders in cake flour? (EWWW)?
I was about to bake a cake, and when I opened the box where the bag of cake flour was in, I found a bunch of bugs in the bag that looked like spiders!!! ewww!!!! At first I thought it was just dirt or something... but then I realized durt doesnt crawl :S ... Anyway, what should I do??!! Should I throw out the cake flour or is there something I can do to get rid of those bugs and still make the cake?
P.s, The box where the flour was in was CLOSED, so how is it possible for those "things" to get in? It was a cardboard box if it matters...

Answers:

I would definitely throw the mix out. What if the bugs laid eggs? There could be larvae too. It could be that the cake mix company had an issue in packaging or that the bugs got in while in your kitchen. I once opened a box of cereal only to find a few inch worms had taken up residence. Here's one of my family recipes for an awesome cake to make up for your casualty. Hope this helps!

Cream de Menthe Cake
? White Cake Mix
? 2 Tbsp Crème de Menthe
Mix in Crème de Menthe and bake as directed on box. Let Cool.
Spread 1 Jar of Hershey’s Fudge Topping over top of cake. Refrigerate until fudge is set.
Mix 3 Tbs. Crème de Menthe into 1-8oz. tub of Cool Whip. Spread over top of fudge. Keep refrigerated

I am a chef and do a lot of home baking.
I have never seen spiders in flour. Spiders are meat eaters and would not be attracted to dry flour. Probably they are some sort of wevil or roach. Either way, you should not attempt to save this flour - nor return it either unless you have the genuine receipt. Throw it away and buy new flour.

I always keep my flour in a air tight container . As soon as I bring it home I transfer it to the container I never leave it in the bag .Works for me never had any bugs spiders or worms in my flour
Tupper ware is great for keeping things fresh

I don't know for sure what you had in your flour, but you need to check the rest of your dried goods in your cupboards. You may need to do some serious cleaning. But for sure, toss the box of flour.

I would take it to health and safety and bring it back to the shop you bought it think what if you never seen the bugs?

Just get rid of it!

Common sense!

Throw the flour away.

Give it to a homeless person. They don't mind spiders while starving.

you should throw it out becuse u dont know what stuff could be in the flour from the bugs
