Can you replace semisweet or bittersweet chocolate bars with cocoa powder?!
I'm making Chocolate Crinkles (http://joyofbaking.com/ChocolateCrinkles… and I don't have time to go to the store and buy whole chocolate bars.
The recipe calls for 8 ounces of semisweet or bittersweet chocolate[, coarsely chopped], so would it be possible to replace it with cocoa powder?
My tin of cocoa powder says 1 oz of unsweetened baking chocolate is equal to 1 tablespoon of shortening/oil + 3 flat tablespoons of cocoa.
So, do you think that it'd work?

I think you might be okay to go ahead and substitute it. I have a similar recipe and have substituted cocoa + a combo of butter, shortening, and oil. I like the flavor of butter, the stability of shortening, and te moistness oil provides. the combination is close.
