cucumber & white vinegar?!
you know that snack when you mix together sliced cucuumbers. white vinegar, salt&pepper etc. well can you make it without boiling the white vinegar? like just put it all together then eat it?

I've been doing this for years! I never boiled the vinegar though...
My Norwegian grandfather ate this all the time, usually with canned sardines. He never boiled it just stirred a bit of salt/pepper into vinegar and added thinly sliced cucumbers and white onion. I don't recall him ever using sugar but he wasn't much for sweet things so perhaps he just omitted it.
There is some sugar thrown in there too, that's why you boil it.
