Butter or margarine? Butter tastes much better than those cheap margarines we buy! Why not just buy butter?!
Don't we answer: The Butter please.!!!
.
Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use n place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.
DO YOU KNOW.. the difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..
This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself:
Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:
* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)
* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

REAL butter is all I use. I like to use it on steamed asparagus tips, or on steamed baby brocolli florets. In fact, I can't imagine any vegetable at all that I would not add a nice fat clump of melted butter to it. I like BUTTERED toast. Buttered noodles. Brush portobello mushrooms before you toss them onto a grill next to the filet mignon. A buttered English muffin tastes just great. I don't care about all of the dire warnings from the food police about how deadly butter is. You know what? Going on a diet will NOT make you live a longer life, Instead, it will just seem that way. If I want to fry some eggs, what should I use? Well, I can use bacon fat, and sometimes I do, but butter works just as well, if you keep the burner on low heat. If I make baked macaroni with extra sharp white cheddar cheese sauce and bread crumb topping, I always use butter, added to the breadcrumbs. Not much, but just enough butter melted and mixed with the breadcrumbs to hold them together, so that the breadcrumb topping works well to compliment the macaroni and cheese casserole.
As a divorced man, and a loving dad, who has never had enough court ordered visitation with his beloved son, have rarely won many of the frequent battles I have had against my ex wife in the Family Court. However, I have won a few rounds. One of those few rounds was when I was arguing my case before the judge, and I told him about my cooking recipies, which, of course, inlcuded lots of BUTTER.
You know what else is delicous? Hot dinner rolls or biscuits, loaded with melted butter. MMMMM mmmmmmmmmm!
Butter is great. Anyone who has never tasted real butter is missing the boat. Once you taste real butter, you will never go back to margerine or that vegetable oil based crap.
Butter will not send you to an early grave. This is something that the food police will do instead. My grandparents lived to a ripe old age, and that's all they ever used was butter. They also ate plenty of eggs, and whole milk, not that 2% crap,or even worse yet, that skim milk which is 99.99% water.
Experience and common sense. Have some real butter today. Thank you.
Are you serious ?
Where did you get the 'manufactured to fatten turkeys' story from
.. and the 'one molecule from being plastic' too.
Margarine REDUCES heart disease .. because it not an animal fat
and the fact that it DOESN'T go rancid and attract flies 'within a couple of days' is a good thing.
I think we all agree that butter just tastes better!!! Though it can obviously affect your cholesterol level. I believe in everything in moderation. I also read a great quote once about margarine vs butter:
"I trust a cows more than chemists" -Joan Gussow
Actually margarine was invented as a butter substitute to issue to French soldiers in the 1860's.
I do buy butter. Butter not only tastes better, it is healthier for you than margarine.

You should start reading factual material, rather than fiction.
I've read this somewhere before too. But I don't use margarine or butter in my food so it doesn't matter
first off everyone has there facts all mixed up, there are TONS of brands of "margarine" and butter substitutes one might consider margarine, the original ones on the market were really F ed up. there somewhat better now BUT hydrogenation or partial hydrogenation fats are made in a lab. Furthermore, the "Trans fat free" are still allowed to have trans fat in them (less than .5 grams per serving) honestly get a scale and a half gram kinda looks gross,
-My opinnion, yea butter is a bit more fattening, but i would rather use a little less of all natural butter then use some pumped up bull just so i can slather twice as much on....oh and margarine tastes bad lol
I used to buy maargerine b3ecuase it is Cheaper. However I went on a low sodium diet and since I can buy unsalted butter I started foring over the extra money.
I did buy some margerine for something a while back, have you nticed when you melt margerine it doesn't really melt. Weathedr it is really one chemical reaction away from being plastic or not, it look kind of like plastic when it melts.
Also since butter is more of a "natural" substance it will help you body absorb other important vitiamins and such.
Do you believe EVERYTHING you read? LOL
That bit about margarine being one molecule away from being plastic is an urban legend. And, it's been applied to a lot of foods like Cool Whip and Velveeta...not just margarine.
Read about it here:
And, margarine was NOT invented to fatten turkeys. That's another lie that's become something of an urban legend. You can read at the link above exactly who invented it and when and for what purpose.
You neglected to mention that butter contains dietary cholesterol, which is a cholesterol-raising ingredient, as well as saturated fat. Margarine contains no dietary cholesterol. Only animal products contain it.
Since it's recommended that we consume no more than 200 milligrams cholesterol each day, and butter has 33 milligrams of cholesterol in every single tablespoon, I defintely use more margarine than I do butter. That way I can eat a little meat and still not overload on cholesterol.
