How are chocolate bars aimed at children?!

Question: How are chocolate bars aimed at children?
This is for my English homework. How are chocolate bars aimed at children in terms of design and adverts and stuff? Thanks.

Answers:

If you look at most of the commercials like M&Ms characters are created. Turned into animated walking talking M&M people. Twix has kids on skate boards. Milky Way had kids on rockets to outer space. I say a lot of it is done through advertising.

Well, many consider things like chocolate bars, chips, and soda to be "junk food", which kids tend to eat a lot of. When those things are advertised on a commercial, you'll notice that there are a lot of bright, bold colors involved. Maybe there's a song or a jingle. Usually you'll see kids eating chocolate bars and/or a big giant chocolate bar with eyes (like the Kool-Aid "Oh, yeah" guy) will turn to the camera and say, "Hey, kids! Try my chocolate!" or something along the lines of that. Usually cartoon characters like Scooby Doo or athletes like Michael Jordan will be a part of the commercial. Everyone likes them. If kids see them doing anything, they'll want to do it, too. It's called a "bandwagon", I think.

I hope I helped!

Forget the adverts! The worst is the supermarkets who have a stand of chocolate bars right in front of the cash out. Many, many moons ago (1970) I was at the front of the shopping trolley putting the goods out for the cashier, when my 2 1/2 year old took a chocolate bar from the display. She had started to open it, but I refused to pay for it and said that it was a disgusting ploy. The cashier agreed with me and I didn't pay for it, but it's now 2011 and most supermarkets world wide are still doing the same thing.

Chocolates bars are aimed at children to eat.
