Grease in the bottom my small gas grill. Its hard grease, do I need to clean this?!

Question: Grease in the bottom my small gas grill. Its hard grease, do I need to clean this?
The last time I used it was October I think. I was worried that there might be bugs in the grease, and what will this do to my food? Its cold out here, but we want to cook out. Will the grease affect our food? Do I need to clean it incase of dead bugs in it?

Answers:

It isnt' going to do your food any good, but it shouldn't really affect the taste much. But DO clean it out when you put the grill away in the fall -- it's a fire hazard and a breeding ground for bacteria. It will also attract animals like rats and raccoons.

Dead bugs aren't really a problem--they won't affect your food.

just dump it out in a can and throw it away.that is nasty.
