Is fondant a waste yes or no?!
People say it's a waste.... Is it????
And how good at baking or sculpting do u need to be to make it look professional????

Fondant doesn't taste very good and normally gets complaints from people eating it. Fondant is difficult to use, it will be very time consuming and difficult to make your cake look professional the first time. My advice is to make a practice cake or to go buy a football pan and/or some frosting bag tips to give your cake a similar texture to a football. Its a lot less effort and stress. But if you want to try fondant as a challenge, definitely make a practice cake.

Its not a waste if you buy the right kind. Cheap ones taste really weird. Its definitely not a waste. It makes the cake seem more real. Have you watched the food network channels with shows called, Cake Boss? Ace of Cakes? They use fondant EVERY day. Its not a waste.. You don't need to be an exact "professional", But it could take some skill. Just start slow when you begin with the cake.
