Calories in 1 oz of turkey neck meat only, no bone?!

Question: Calories in 1 oz of turkey neck meat only, no bone?
Its a silly question to ask I'm sure, but this confuses me a little bit...

I looked up that 1 oz of turkey neck meat is 50 calories, another website said 38 calories. And then I found that the meat of 1 turkey neck is 270 calories.

Well my turkey necks must be small, because I picked 5 oz of turkey neck meat from three of them, so would that be 50x5=250 calories, 38x5=190 calories, or 270x3=810 calories?

Answers:

the reason for the high calories is turkey neck meat is dark meat which has more fat marbled right into it and is there for fattier.
I just hit some sites too and two claims 262 calories in 1 cup of turkey dark meat but cups and ounces measure 2 different things and you might have run into that as well on your search. That difference skews the amounts of calories if you are looking for portion sizes. Meat is rarely offered by cups but by ounces.
Another site claimed 110 calories for 2 ounce portion.
A couple of other sites I visited offered calorie counts by ounces and that was consistent with about 50 calories per 2 ounce portion, not 1 ounce.

This last site claims 232 calories in 3 1/2 ounces of turkey dark meat, roasted, no skin. That ends up being around 75 calories an ounce.
Seems none of the sites seem to agree.

These all showed a wide discrepancy.
If I were you I would ere on the side of caution and count it at the higher numbers if you are strict dieting.

I would go with the 50 calorie calculation, turkey necks are not fatty, they have the skin removed, and I buy them for broth and I am like you I eat the meat,. It is not high in fat or calories, but like the rest of the turkey is is rich and has a fair amount of protein and then there is the tryptofin, the chemical that makes you sleepy

Turkey necks have little meat on them. They are mostly bones and joints. I haven't ever eaten turkey necks just because. They are used for gravy at my house. Maybe for soup.
