Why should I get a pressure cooker?!
What are the benefits? Just cooking time or do they add flavour or preserve nutrients?
Answers:
cooking time
they add flavour
preserve nutrients
and safe to use
have use one for over 40 years
Pressure cooking makes the water content of the food boil at a higher temperature which means it cooks faster. Meats that are tough break down and get very tender.
Follow the directions carefully and pressure cookers are safe.
Watch while cooking so as to not over pressurize the cooker, don't just turn the heat on fully and leave the room. If you can manage a pot of spaghetti you can manage a pressure cooker. A small amount of steam should escape, it shouldn't sound like the whistle on an old locomotive. Make sure you cool off the cooker well and no pressure remains inside before removing the lid.
If following directions is confusing give up before you get scalded. I hope you know how to read and comprehend what's in the instruction.
The only advantage is that it will cooke some foods faster like roasts etc
.
They can't add flavour or nutrients they are innate items.
All you can do is to add flavours and use good nutritious foods.
Pressure cookers have lost a lot of its position by the crock-pot.
There is no need to fear an explosion. Pressure cookers are well designed and perfectly safe. Just follow the directions. I love mine. I can cook chicken breasts in about 8 minutes and they are juicy, tender and full of flavor.
the newer models have safety valves and do not explode
you can cook fast and it taste good
just get one, all pressure cookers come with a pressure release valve so it wont explode.
