trying to make homemade pizza to impress the boyfriend... but?!
Answers:
Just know that without yeast you wont have as nice of a crust. It will be thin and crispy, most likely. I have tried yeast-free crusts before and was a bit disappointed in that. A good technique to distract from that was to sprinkle a mix of italian herbs over the baking sheet before putting the dough on it. It added a nice taste and so the texture mattered less.
I did a look around for you to see if any better looking recipes were out there and this one seems promising: http://thefrickinchicken.blogspot.com/20…
It requires these:
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried oregano (or Italian herb mix)
1/8 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
1 egg
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp olive oil (reserved)
cornmeal (optional)
Good luck! I hope you do impress but I'm sure he'll appreciate it. :)
No worries, you can make a yeast free pizza crust.
I like this recipe
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil
Mix flour, salt, baking powder and water. Knead on floured counter just until workable and spreadable, about 2 minutes.
Use as normal
if you go on bbc website and look at lorrane pascal
she has a no yeast needed bread you can you that
but roll the dough very thin
tried it
Obviously you need yeast for the dough to rise
You could try a basic scone recipe instead for the dough base
i use flour tortillas for the crust.it is simple and good.
What about buying pre-made dough instead?
