Does on HAVE to soak dry beans over night!?!

Question: Does on HAVE to soak dry beans over night!?
I have dry black beans I want to make for chili but don't want to wait.

Answers:

No, you don't HAVE to. Set them in a big pot w/ plenty of water and bring to a boil for 1-1? hours. Pour off that water (it will keep you from farting to discard it). Then start anew w/ fresh water, onions, whatever seasonings you like, and simmer another hour or so until done. Add salt at the end; sometimes salt can keep dry beans from softening up when cooked if salt is added too early.

No, you don't HAVE to. It just makes the cooking time shorter. I always cook mine in the crock pot and cook them all day. I never soak mine.

no on the package that they came in is a shot cut to cook them fast i use the quick way every time i cook them

it softens them for cooking. if your in a hurry go buy a couple cans of canned beans.

Not at all. They may need extra cooking time though.

pour some boiling water over them and let them soak for an hour or so now.

Rinse, boil em, hurry I like chili
