How to get through a mans heart with food?!

Question: How to get through a mans heart with food?
I cant cook, but my mother taught me how to make a good strawberry cheesecake, but that's all I have going for me. I suck at making fancy meals. They're either over cooked, undone, and scotched. I want to impress him and make a ethnic dinner, because he loves worldly things and culture. Does anyone know a good Ethnic-Non American recipe that's for novices? A full meal/dinner that would knock someone off their feet? That a novice cook can do?

Its hard, being a male here, trying to tell you what your not interested in but here goes, you really are trying to run before you can walk, so lets say you do find that you can cook one good thing, that's not what will make him fall in love with , and then what? are you going to serve that up ones a week for the rest of his life, so after all that ......... start from the basics, learn to make good breakfast, good eggs, fried ,boiled, scrambled, poached, nice bacon crispy not burned etc buy good loafs of bread, jams, marmalade's, etc , fruits, find what he likes and work around that, a good breakfast and later on a healthier one will be a good start, keep things simple in the beginning, nothing too strange and unusual because you don't know if he will really like it, sort of like this , buy a cooked cut up chicken from somewhere, but make sure that it has just come out of the oven or the broiler bbq, nothing worse then dry breast meat, make a good gravy out of a packet its ok in the beginning, then get a selection of fresh vegetables beans, peas, snow peas, baby corn, zucchini, throw them in boiling water for 2 minutes then drain and toss in a fry pan with some oil a little salt and pepper, some roast vegetables from the supermarket freezer roasted according to instructions , and you have a meal that he knows you can put together , also make sure that you have two different desserts, variety is pleasing, keep it simple that way you dont end up having a bad night
