1 pound frozen chopped winter greens (such as turnip greens, kale or spinach), thawed

Put the apples, garlic, thyme, parsley, pickling spice and brown sugar in a 5-to-6-quart slow cooker. Add the ham and surround it with the turnips. Pour in the wine and 2 cups water. Cover and cook on low, 7 hours.

Remove the ham from the slow cooker. Add the greens to the cooker and stir to combine with the liquid. Return the ham to the cooker, cover and cook on high 30 minutes.

Slice the ham and serve with the turnips, apples and greens

enjoy!!!!!

I enjoy cooking w the yellow kind, as opposed to the purple top - it seems sweeter and maintains shape when necessary.

When roasting chicken, or instance, I place turnip w other vegs, skin on, dot w butter or oil.

Mashed w cream and butter and salt and pepper.

In soup or simple steam. :)

I like mine roasted. you can roast alone or with parsnips, carrots or other root vegetables. Of course in soups and such , in pot pies in place of potatoes or mixed in with mashed potatoes or celery root.

I COOK TURNIPS WITH BACON,HOG JAW,PIG TAILS,PUT A LITTLE BIT OF OIL,SALT, PEPPER,AND BOIL FOR 45 MIN. CHOOSE ONLY ONE MEAT OK.

MY WIFE

Turnips are really good when cooked slowly with rhubarb

My Grannie

goes great in most soups and stews, I learned it from my grandma, I've been cooking them this way for over 50 years.
