Can you help me troubleshoot my crumbly cookies?!

Question: Can you help me troubleshoot my crumbly cookies?
I made sugar cookies using this recipe: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/easy-sugar… and the dough turned out really crumbly. Due to my son's egg allergy I used flaxseed as a replacement. Could that be the problem?

Answers:

If you used flax-seed oil for the egg andthe butter I would say that is a YES! as for your problem.
Eggs hold ingredients together.
Liquid Egg Substitute bought in your supermarket may be used.
Or use a tsp. of baking powder, 1/4 tsp of oil, and 1/4 cup of milk or water.
I googled Egg Substitute and this little receipe came up for people allergic to eggs.
