Why Are You So Bitter? (those who don't like foodstamp users)?!

Liana, why are you worried what people think? So what your pregnant, things do happen, just pray that it is a healthy bouncing baby boy or girl. Hell girl, your feeding your family, that's what counts, not what narrowed minded people think.

I don't think foodstamps are used much here in Britain, but maybe I've just never seen them?

I admit, I'm quick to judge, but unless they're falsely claiming benefits by pretending to be disabled or simply being too lazy to work, I'm for foodstamps. It's the people that can't be bothered that ruin it for people.

I don't think you're family is the problem but it has a bad rep because people use and abuse the system.

Don't worry about other people and hold your head high because you are using the system correctly and doing what needs to be done to care for you and your family.

I am not against People on foodstamps that need them like you. I'm against people that take advantage of the system. People that do have new cars, cable, etc. I comend your husband for working and supporting his family. There are so many dead beat dads out there that think they don't have to help their family's. And the dads that do help don't get that atta boy for doing it. So hats off to your husband, tell him I said take care of his self and he's doing a great job. And don't feel bad everyone needs help sometimes reather it's foodstamps or something else.

we dont have food stamps here in the UK
but i do understand what they are for and how the system works
and it is a much better system than we have here

here we just hand out cash to anyone who asks
and they can spend it on drink, cigarettes and worse
with food stamps, the people who NEED help, get it

Congratulations on your baby that's on the way first of all. Now to answer your question:

I think it's perfectly FINE if people get food stamps. After all NO ONE in this country should EVER be hungry with all the help we are always handing out to other countries. And by the way to the person that said you're having kids you can't take care of... Would you say the same thing to someone in a third-world country that has children? NO. You would look at that situation and feel bad for them and want to help them not criticize them. Why can't people have the same courtesy for their fellow Americans? Having children is something that brings joy to people and should not be based on your status in the world. YES you should try to be financially stable before you have kids but most people never reach a point in their lives where they are completely stable and have no debts. So what about them? Should they forfeit their God given right and ability to have a child and love it? NO.

Now back to the question... food-stamps are completely fine like I said this country should always make sure that everyone has food to eat as it is a necessity of life. People who get welfare and food-stamps just because they are too lazy to even try to get a job much less keep one and try to support themselves.. they make me sick and they are bums. People like you (and your husband) who work their asses off to try to make it and keep a roof over your head and food on the table, people who pay taxes and contribute to society should NEVER be ridiculed for asking for a little help ESPECIALLY if it's in order to help feed yourself and your family. I don't really have a problem with it, but I can see why some people would. Last year, there were over 40 million people in the U.S. using food stamps. That's over 10% of the country. Way too high of a number for one of the wealthiest and strongest countries in the world. I'm not against food stamps, but we should be finding ways to improve this instead of finding ways to distribute more food stamps. This isn't solving anything. I know it is important to feed a starving family, but some people see this as being lazy. I respect that your husband has been working for little pay. You are going to have to make sacrifices which means no expensive new stuff, or tons of toys for the kids. Stating at the end that you do not have cable might cause annoyance with some people because if you are struggling to get by you shouldn't be complaining about now having cable.

I really hope for the best for you and your family. My only suggestions are to be positive and keep your family strong. Whatever you do don't drag your kids into the details of your financial burden too much. I'm not sure how old they are but as a kid, I grew up knowing much of my parents financial problems and it was really hard on me. I only found out recently that we had been on food stamps in the mid 90s. I don't really remember that part, but I know that I felt a lot of guilt for my family's money issues.
