Seasoning Lentil Stew?!

Question: Seasoning Lentil Stew?
Hello - would appreciate suggestions for seasoning lentil stew. I plan to use a chicken stock, add lentils, grated carrots, chopped celery and onion, a little garlic, and of course chicken.
What would flavor it nicely besides salt and pepper?
Thank you in advance.

Answers:

Cumin will suit it perfectly! So will some turmeric, if you're willing to change the stew's color a bit ;)

Here is how I make mine. It's simple and my family loves it. You will need:

1 bag Lentils (2 cups dry)
2 slices bacon, chopped
2 cups chopped onions,
1 cup diced carrots
4 cloves cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped
1 can diced tomatoes
1 Tbs. Italian Herb Blend (optional)

Fry Bacon. Fish out the bacon and leave the fat in the pan. Heat bacon fat and add onions, carrot and garlic. Saute until golden brown or about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer all the goodness to a soup pot and add all other ingredients. Stir. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until lentils are tender. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Add crisp bacon.

It's super easy and delicious. Good Luck and Enjoy!

sweet basil. Use cumin if you like the flavor.
