how do i tell if bread has finished baking?!

Question: How do i tell if bread has finished baking?
i just baked a loaf of sultana bread and I'm bringing it to youth conference tomorrow, the outside looks ready but I'm not sure of the inside. I don't want to cut it open either. are there any signs to know if the inside is fully cooked?

Answers:

First has it baked for the required amount of time the recipe specifies...Second check on your bread once the timer goes off and see if the top of the bread looks dry. If there is still a doughy look at all, or if the bread is not darker than it was when you put it in the oven, give it 5 more minutes and then check it again. This will be easier to notice with white breads since the top will also be a light golden color. The key is noticing whether the top looks dry and firm.....And last look at the sides of the bread. If the edges of the bread have pulled away from the pan, then your bread is done, especially if you have a dry-looking top along with the pulled-away edges. Once you have removed the bread from the oven, remove it from the pan and tap the bottom of the loaf to see if it sounds hollow. If there is no hollow sound or if the bottom of the bread is still soft, place it back in the oven and continue baking for a few minutes longer......

Good luck !!!

When you tap it, it should sound hallow. Also, it will pull away from the side of the pan some so it will wiggle in there.

I know that with cakes, a toothpick inserted should come out clean and dry.

Tap it with a finger...If it sounds hollow...it's done !
