What kind of dessert should I serve with my Easter dinner?!

Question: What kind of dessert should I serve with my Easter dinner?
I am hosting our families Easter dinner this year, here is the menu...

Pork Loin with a Dijon mustard rub, roasted with onions and garlic
Greens...depending on what I find at the market, I usually do a comb of collard, mustard and kale or turnip mustard and Kale...braised with bacon, onion, garlic and chicken broth
Black eyed peas
potato salad
baked mac and cheese
possibly cream corn, but haven't decided yet
and some kind of homemade bread

I just need some ideas about what kind of dessert to serve with the meal...we are a southern family, but my hubby is from England so I thought maybe I could make a dessert that might remind him of home...any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you want something English, go with a Trifle. It can be made the night before, looks lovely layered in a glass bowl and is quite versatile. Generally a trifle consists of layers of sponge cake (home made or not), custard-you can substitute vanilla pudding, berries/fruit and/or jam or preserves, topped with whipped cream. I've also used angel food cake instead of the sponge cake and marinated a combination of berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries) with some sugar over night to have both the whole berries and their syrup. Use the best berries you can find in your market or buy frozen. This is a link to find some not so traditional Trifle recipes.

Double cream is heavy (whipping cream), full cream milk should be whole milk and castor sugar if superfine sugar.

Try a Hummingbird Cake or a Chocolate Cake. You can find easy recipes for both at http://www.easy-baking-recipes.com/easy-… Hope this helps.

I don't know much about English desserts but for southerners you can't beat cobbler and ice cream.
Blackberry,cherry,peach,plum,etc.

Maybe a custard or pudding.

I currently live in the UK and make them a lot on their cooking shows.

What about Eton Mess? It's just broken up meringue, whipped cream and some sort of berries (strawberries are the best :P), all mized up in a bowl. It's delicious!!

I think every dinner ends off well with a generous serving of ice-cream for everyone!

Trifle

Tiramisu

Cheese cake & fresh berries

Strawberry Shortcake
