Answers:

Make Homemade Cole Slaw.

A delicious homemade Cole slaw recipe that anyone can make, it's awesome on barbecue.

Instructions
things you'll need:

* Green Cabbage
* Red Cabbage
* Carrots
* Red Onions
* Green Pepper
* Cole Slaw, Mayonnaise, or
* Miracle Whip
* Salt and Pepper

1
Shredding

Start by shredding one large head of green cabbage into a large bowl; add 2 cups red cabbage, shredded, 2 cups of shredded carrots, one large green pepper shredded and juice drained. Add to this; one cup red onion, diced small.
2

Mix all of the ingredients together and season with salt and pepper. Next, you can either use 2 cups of real mayonnaise or miracle whip or you can use 2 cups of your favorite store bought slaw mix. Add this to your Cole slaw mixture and blend it all together very well.
3
Cole slaw with a barbecue sandwich

Refrigerate your Cole slaw for at least an hour before you are going to serve it. When chilled and ready to serve make sure you stir it first because the mayonnaise or Cole slaw tends to go to the bottom of the bowl. Taste great as a side dish or as a topping on a barbecue sandwich.

Here's how I make coleslaw, which is the same way my mother made it. Sorry, but I don't measure these items, just eyeball it since it doesn't make a difference.

1/4 head of cabbage, shredded (all green or half green and half red)
1 or 2 grated carrots, depending upon size
1/2 bell pepper, finely diced (whatever color you want)
1/4 cup finely diced red onion (or use 3 or 4 green onions)
about 1/2 cup Marzetti's Original Coleslaw Dressing
1 teaspoon caraway seeds

Only use enough dressing to moisten as the cabbage and other veggies will release water as it sits. I normally make this a few hours ahead so flavors can meld.

If you can't find Marzetti's slaw dressing, mix together 1/2 cup mayo or Miracle Whip with 2 tablespoons vinegar (cider or red wine type) and 2 teaspoons sugar then toss with veggies.

The caraway seeds really add a nice flavor, but I leave them out if my niece is coming since she doesn't care for them.

My Mama's recipe

Here is a recipe I came up with some years ago when my Masonic Lodge was having a fish fry and we needed a huge batch of coleslaw.

Everyone seemed to really like it and talked about how good it was.

Me, I don't really know how good it is in comparison to other slaws. I don't much like coleslaw, but even I thought it was pretty good.

Masonic Cole Slaw

40 - 50 lb. cabbage
10 pounds Red Cabbage
10 pounds carrots, peeled.
6 or more Green Bell pepper
2 pounds Canning Salt
10 lb. sugar
3 qt. white vinegar
1 qt. water
1/4 c. mustard seed
1/4 c. celery seed
2 lb. carrots, chopped
2 green and red peppers
1 gallon Mayonnaise

Bring the sugar, vinegar, water and celery and mustard seed to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool. Stir in mayonnaise.

Shred the cabbage, carrots and peppers. Mix together and sprinkle with canning salt; let stand overnight in cooler. Drain and press out water. Add cooled dressing and refrigerate. Yields 275 to 300 servings.

Mine is very simple, shredded cabbage, mayo, apple cider vinegar, sugar and celery seed. Depending on how much you make, the dressing is 1 cup of mayo, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon celery seed. But gauge it by how much coleslaw you need.

this is very similar to cole slaw, but oh, so much better. Every time I take it somewhere folks ask for the recipe.
