Heavy cream?!
Heavy cream?
Okay, this baking amateur has a dumb question. Many recipes call for heavy cream. I can't seem to find it in grocery stores. Is this something i'm just supposed to know how to make myself? or am i not looking in the right place? where would it be in a grocery store? (pardon my dumbness)

Heavy cream, also called heavy whipping cream, has a fat content of between 36% and 40%. Light cream has between 18% and 30% butterfat (but generally on the low end of the scale), and light whipping cream has between 30% and 36% fat. If you find a carton in the store labeled whipping cream, it is bound to be light whipping cream. Many, many supermarkets carry heavy cream, but perhaps you should ask the manager at yours if it is available. We doubt that substituting whipping cream for heavy cream will seriously compromise whatever you’re cooking, if you must make the substitution.

It's the the refrigerator section (not the freezer section). Usually comes in very small cartons that look like milk cartons. They have whipping cream and heavy whipping cream.
heavy cream is whipping cream in a carton.you can substitute heavy cream for half/half,it's half whole milk and half cream.I use half/half in everything.
You can find it in the dairy section near the half and half and milk. It is also called heavy whipping cream or whipping cream. It comes in a pint size or 1/2 pint. You can actually make a substitution for cooking at home by melting 1 or 2 tbsp butter in a liquid measuring cup and adding enough whole milk or 2% to equal 1 cup. Hope that helps! (I'm not sure the sub would work for sweet whipped cream, but it would be fine for sauces)
look in the fridge dept. of supermarket, should be next to half and halk, light cream, whipping cream, and there u will see heavy cream.
It is usually called whipping cream and is in the dairy case.
