Red Lobster like Cesar Salad?!
Red Lobster like Cesar Salad?
I had the BEST Cesar salad today from red lobster. It was simple, romaine lettuce, crutons, shredded cheese. But I believe there was something special about the dressing, it was a thin white color, had someone of a salty taste. Any recipes on a cesar salad like that?

Is there anyway I could find the company that makes it? Or is there a brand available at stores that are just as good?

You'll be glad to know that Red Lobster's dressing is just for Red Lobster. However, for less than $5 you are able to purchase the dressing. (a pint I believe); however, if you order it while dining, and your server likes you, theres always a chance you will get more. But just ask your server or bartender to purchase the dressing. By the way, the dressing does contain an anchovy base that gives it the real, traditional flavor.

OMG that sounds so great, It's been awhile since Ive been to Red Lobster, now Im gonna have to go and have one of these salads. I hope this is it or very close:
BEST CAESAR SALAD EVER!
1 large fresh head romaine
4-5 tsp. lemon juice or juice of 1-2 lemons
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
sprinkle of lemon pepper
1/4 c. red wine vinegar
1 beaten egg
generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese
handful of bacon bits
couple handfuls of croutons
mix with creamy Caesar dressing
CAESAR SALAD DRESSING
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire
1 clove of garlic (minced)
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 c Parmesean cheese
1 tbsp of milk or half and half
Mix all ingredients together and shake or whisk until well blended.
WOW, it had "SOMEONE" of a salty taste, did it? damn, I think I know what the secret ingredient in that dressing was. Better watch out for Caesar salad at the lobster.
I suspect that the salty taste came from anchovy paste and that the dressing included oil, lemon juice, anchovy paste and fresh ground pepper. When its blended, it looks light in color and thin in texture.
Caesar Salad
Method:
1. Mix together dressing
Place 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 clove of minced (crushed) garlic, 2 finely chopped anchovy fillets, ? teaspoon salt and ? teaspoon freshly ground black pepper in a jar with a screw top lid and shake until well combined.
2. Cook and chop bacon
Broil (grill) 2 lean bacon rashers, such as Canadian bacon, (rind and fat removed) on both sides until cooked and chop into small pieces.
3. Brush bread with olive oil and toast
Brush 2 slices of whole wheat bread evenly on both sides with 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil and toast until golden brown.
4. Cut into croutons
Remove the crusts and cut into croutons.
5. Assemble and serve
Place 3 handfuls of washed and dried romaine (Cos) lettuce leaves in a salad bowl with half the bacon bits and croutons, drizzle with the dressing and toss gently to coat well. Scatter the remaining bacon bits and croutons on top and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of finely grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.
Good luck and enjoy!
I work at RL. The dressing comes made already from a distributer. The salty taste is from the anchovies in the dressing. Even though they're not whole, you couldn't see them, that is what the salty taste is.
The other poster is correct. You can purchase dressing by the pint. I would also say if you do that, buy some store brands that would be similar and do taste tests. I thought I already wrote this, but it's manufactured by t. marzetti. I checked the box....
The salad dressing probably had anchovy in it. It makes a really nice salty flavor. You don't actually have to buy the little fishies, it comes in a paste that adds a special twang to dressings.
hhhmmmmmmm.... salty huh?/ a secret ingrediant? maybe that is is powdered sugar, that was the secret ingrediant in TequilaBerry's salad
omg, your killing me....i'm definatly going to have lobster and salad tonight for supper, :P
I've been going to Red Lobster for about 17 years now and I always get the Caesar salad. Nothing has changed, I'm looking for improvement.
In a true Caesar salad, they rub the bowl with anchovy paste, and that gives it a sharp, salty flavor. I'd be surprised if they did that at Red Lobster, but ya never know. Why not ask them for their dressing recipe? Sometimes restaurants will share recipes, or even sell you bottled dressing.
