Question:

How do you cut a birthday cake?

How do you cut perfect slices?

Answers:
If the cake is round, you make a small circle in the center of cake as a guild line. then you slice from center down and you get perfect slices every time.

PS. the last piece (which is a small circle) would be for you! lol.

Using a knife...

try using non-flavored floss.

i use a knife but one time at my friends birthday party her dad insisted on using dental floss. It was pretty funny to watch. Maybe next time I have a cake I will try it. lol!

Here are tips to cutting a round layer cake.

First select a knife you are comfortable holding. A long slender knife works best. Begin the first cut about two inches from the edge. Cut along the entire edge of the cake keeping the knife in about two inches. Your cake will now have an outer ring two inches wide.

Next cut the outer ring into two inch wide slices. This outer ring is perfect for those who enjoy a lot of frosting. To serve use a cake spatula and easily lift each slice from the outer ring of cake.

Follow these same steps with the center of the cake. This technique will give you uniformed attractively displayed slices every time.

By serving the outer ring to those who enjoy the frosting this leaves the moist inner cake to those with less of a sweet tooth.

To Slice Cake and Cheese

Use dental floss to cut cakes, especially delicate and sticky ones that tend to adhere to a knife. Just hold a length of the floss taut over the cake and then slice away, moving it slightly side to side as you cut through the cake. You can also use dental floss to cut small blocks of cheese cleanly.

How to Cut a Cake Layer in Half

Using Dental Floss to cut cake:
"Cutting a decorated layer cake can sometimes create an unattractive presentation. To avoid the messy globs of frosting that collect on the knife, use dental floss to cut the cake. Just cut the floss to about 8 more inches than the widest part of the cake. Wrap one end around a finger of one hand and the other end around a finger of the other hand. Pull it taut, then pull the floss firmly straight down through the cake to slice it. It works wonderfully!"

Hope I helped!

Cut in half and then cut those halves in half and so on. Make sure each slice is really big and make sure the birthday girl/boy gets the most icing. And don't forget the ice cream.

You could use any type of string. Dental floss that is non-flavored and has the teflon coating works good. Whatever you use even if ti is a knife, you need to start at one side and cut straight across to the other side, using a serrated knife.

For professional-looking portions, use a 10- to 12-inch serrated slicer when cutting the cakes. Place the cake to be sliced on a sanitary cutting surface. Heat the blade of the slicer under hot running water and wipe the blade dry before making each slice.

If a small round on slice in wedges. If a large square one cut into small squares.Round then start with a slice straight across the cake, then slice that into half, then again til small wedges are achieved.Square is simple make a straight line about 3 inches from the end and cut across then make squares out of that slice....

first I cut a circle in the middle then i start cutting slices from the cake ring in the edge then u try it again with middle circle cut a smaller circle then slices in the edge and so on. but if this seems hard for you. Why dont you try the dental floss 1 that seems efective and easier you what and mayb ill try it to next time.

this is what you do: cut out a small circle in the middle of the cake (assuming it is a round cake) then cut the pieces like normal leaving the circle untouched.
