Sorbet Question?!

Question:

Sorbet Question?

Is is okay to take a recipe for sorbet and make it with omitting the sugar. I cannot have sugar right now and would love make something cold and fruity. I've searched through answers and didn't find an answer to my question although I am finding lots of yummy looking recipes that have sugar in them.

Make it with Splenda. It will still taste uber yummy!

I couldnt find one either. sorry! :(

found one!!!

Sugar-Free Red Sorbet

2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries, thawed
3 cups cubed watermelon, seeded
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup water
12 (1 gram) packets Equal sweetener

In blender or food processor puree raspberries. Strain and discard seeds. Puree watermelon. In small saucepan sprinkle gelatin over the 1/4 cup water. Cook and stir until gelatin dissolves. Combine all and freeze

Try substituting Splenda (the granulated kind, not what is in the packets) for the sugar in those recipes-it works great in baking and substitutes cup for cup to sugar without being horribly noticable. Or you could try a 1/4 recipe and see if the result is unacceptable to your taste without any of the sugar in the recipe.

if you can't have sugar i would say when making the sorbet use fruit that is too ripe. that way you can have all natural flavors without adding sugar

I dont see why you cant make Sorbet without Sugar !!!!
Use Splenda instead........

yup splenda i swear by it

i, too, would recommend splenda, however, i tend to use less splenda than a recipe calls for usage of sugar. does that make sense? try the recipe with less splenda, for instance, if it says 1 cup of sugar, try 3/4 or 1/2 of a cup of splenda.

Try using a ripe banana in your sorbet. Bananas are very sweet and they add lots of flavor.

i think the sugar is just for sweetness so yes

USE VERY RIPE FRUIT AND YOU SHOULD NOT NEED THE SUGAR,OR YOU CAN USE SPOON FOR SPOON SUBSTITUTE SWEETENER IT TASTE LIKE SUGAR.

omg! i feel like sorbet now too! i'm gonna go look up some recipes, and no, i've never made it before! but thanks for the idea:P

This link has sorbet without the sugar =)

Good luck!

Just go without the sugar, there are enough fruits in them that'll make it fruity.
