What is the best way to cook a steak on the grill?
What temperature do I cook it on?
What should I marinate it in beforehand?
How long will it take?
Answers:
It depends on a number of variables.
If you have a very good cut of beef, you won't need to marinate unless you want to for the flavor. Marinating is usually used to tenderize and flavor.
If you've got a great steak, rub with butter, bacon grease, sea salt (French or grey sea salt is terrific on steak), and cracked pepper and toss it on there.
How long to cook it depends on the thickness of the steak and if you want it rare, medium or well done. Start higher to sear the meat and then turn it down to medium.
Flip the steak exactly once. Cook longer on the first side than the second. For rare, about 5 minutes first side and 3 on the other, but cut into the steak to see how done it's getting.
For a tougher cut of steak, look up marinades online until you find one that looks good. Or, if you want to keep it simple, marinade in lemon or lime juice with water and spices you like. Marinade in the fridge for 8 hours.
Enjoy!

3Step ThreePrepare your grill. Spray oil or kitchen spray on the grill before heating to prevent the meat from sticking.
4Step FourTrim the steaks while the grill is heating.
5Step FivePut the steaks on the grill when it’s hot.
6Step SixTurn the steaks over when juices begin collecting on the surface.
7Step SevenCook until the steaks are done. Touch with your finger or a utensil to check―well done steaks will be firm and rare steaks will have a spongy texture. A well done steak will also have more juices on its surface.
8Step EightRemove the steaks from the grill and let them stand for five minutes to let the juices absorb into the meat.
Most important, start with a good cut of meat. We use thick cut Rib-eyes or NY strips. Next, lightly sprinkle with a good seasoning mix - we love Montreal steak seasoning. Next, cook over medium coals - NEVER use gas, it will dry the meat out........Cook til desired doneness - I prefer medium/medium rare. Never turn with a fork - always use a pair of tongs. Let meat rest at least 5 minutes before slicing so you can seal in the juices.......
