Does anybody have a good recipe for barbeque ribs?
Hi there! I'm looking for a recipe for barbequed ribs. My old standard includes a good amount of paprika and brown sugar, and although it's really tasty, I'm looking to branch out a bit. I plan on grilling them instead of baking, just so you know.

BARBEQUED SPARE RIBS
3-4 lbs. ribs, cut into pieces
Boil in salted water 45 minutes, covering ribs with water. Cover with Barbecue Sauce:
1 c. catsup
1/3 c. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 dashes Tabasco sauce (opt.)
2 c. water
Boil ribs for 5 minutes and marinate in sauce for at least 30 minutes. Barbecue on hot grill for about 7 minutes per side. Baste often. If not served immediately, keep warm in pan of sauce.

BARBEQUE RIBS
3-4 lb. country style pork ribs
1 bottle barbeque sauce
2 onions, sliced
Lightly flour ribs. Brown in 1/4 oil until lightly browned. Put sliced onions in bottom of crock pot. Put ribs on top of onions. Pour barbeque sauce over all. Cover and cook on low for approximately 8-10 hours.
Kansas City Spareribs- (the right balance of sweet and salty in the seasoning rub and sweet and sour in the sauce, is what makes these ribs so delicious and slow cooking makes 'em fall of the bone tender*)
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tbsp. paprika
1 tbsp hickory smoked salt
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. pepper
3-4 lbs. pork spareribs
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp. unsulphured (lite) molasses
Prepare grill for indirect heat cooking. Combine first 8 ingredients, reserve 1/4 cup mixture. Rub remaining spice mixture over ribs. Place ribs on grill, cover. Cook until very tender 2- 2 1/2 hrs.
In pot combine ketchup , vinegar , molasses, and reserved spice mixture. Place over med. low heat, bring to simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally 10min ..brush ribs with glaze every 15min during last 30min-45min of cook time.

To grill ribs properly, you must allow at least 6 hours for cooking time using indirect heat at no more than 225 F degrees; some experts prefer 180 degrees. Most people don't have that much time to "spare" (get it? "Spare Ribs?").
What I do is grill the ribs over medium flame to get the char you want (no sauce at this point), then wrap the ribs in foil after slathering on the BBQ sauce and either continue on the grill or in the over at 350 for 1 hour. This method is recommended by grilling expert Bobby Flay. It works great and saves lots of time.
My dad used to take 1 - 2 cans of coke or pepsi and mix with 1 large bottle of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. Then he would add 1/2 of a small chopped onion, 2 tablespoons of mustard, and 3 or 4 tablespoons of brown sugar or honey. Mix it up and put the ribs, chicken, (we did a pot roast like this once too), and bake in the oven or grill. It was always so good.
He would save about 1 cup of the sauce and fix baked beans like that too.
Barbequed Ribs
INGREDIENTS
* 4 pounds baby back pork ribs
* 4 cloves garlic, sliced
* 1 tablespoon white sugar
* 1 tablespoon paprika
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
* 2 teaspoons chili powder
* 2 teaspoons ground cumin
* 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
* 1/2 cup cider vinegar
* 1/2 cup ketchup
* 1/4 cup chili sauce
* 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 2 tablespoons onion, chopped
* 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
* 1 clove crushed garlic
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Place ribs on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Scatter 4 cloves of sliced garlic over ribs. Cover, and bake for 2 1/2 hours. Cool slightly.
2. In a small bowl, mix together white sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and ground cumin. Rub spices over cooled ribs. Cover, and refrigerate overnight.
3. In a small saucepan, mix together brown sugar, cider vinegar, ketchup, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, onion, dry mustard, and 1 clove garlic. Simmer over medium-low heat, uncovered, for 1 hour. Reserve a small amount for basting; the remainder is a dipping sauce.
4. Preheat grill for medium heat.
5. Place ribs on grill. Grill, covered, for about 12 minutes, basting with the reserved sauce, until nicely browned and glazed. Serve with remaining sauce for dipping.
