Frozen Hash Browns?!
Frozen Hash Browns?
I have a pack of frozen hash browns. I've never made this before. Can you tell me how?
Cheers!
Answers:
Place some oil in a hot skillet. put the potaotes in on top of the oil and cover for 10 minutes. Do not open, stir or otherwise disturb the potatoes while they cook. After 10 minutes turn them over and cook on the other side until GBD - Golden Brown and Delicious.....serve with salsa or ketchup and some scrambled eggs.
Instructions should be on the packet but the easiest way is to put them into a toaster on high twice.... never fails!
I break them up a little so they are loose in the bag, put a little olive oil and butter in a pan then the hash browns . cook on medium heat with a cover, when they are brown on one side flip over and leave the cover off. Brown and season with salt and pepper. If you like you can add onions or green pepper when you first start them.
Read instructions on back.
I use the oven. Place them on a lightly greased cookie sheet and cook them for 15 minutes on 400 degrees (Fahrenheit of course--205 C). Then flip them and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
If there is just you, use a toaster oven on 450 and cook each side about 5 minutes.
you get a pan put it on the stove, put some cooking oil in the pan and let the pan heat up for around 2 minutes then throw your hashbrowns in and let them cook, but flip them over every minute or so, until you see that there nice and brown. Then when they are done, put them on a plate with a napkin on it so they dry up. It's very easy.
yes we have this all the time. Very tasty as it is alredy cooked you can place it on a micro wave dish and do it for 1.25 secs. it thaws and cooks at the same time
You can cut this recipe to suit the size you want! Just use a smaller dish. It is guaranteed to be yummy......
HASHS BROWN POTATO CASSEROLE
Printed from COOKS.COM
1 (2lb.) bag frozen hash brown potatoes
2 (9 oz.) cartons sour cream
1/2 c. chopped onions
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
2 c. shredded cheese, cheddar, sharp or other
2 c. corn flake crumbs or substitute any good crumbs such as bran that you like and have available. (Pick out the raisins first!)
1/4 c. butter, melted
Thaw potatoes, combine soup, sour cream, onion and cheese, mix in potatoes. Spray 3 quart casserole with Pam, put in mixture. Mix melted butter and crumbs and sprinkle on top. Have oven preheated to 350 degrees and bake for 1 hour.
You can just thaw them and then bake them in the oven. You can also deep fry them but remember do not thaw them as the hash brown will become soft and out of shape after frying.
Thaw in microwave and then fry in butter
Best way is to thaw them first ( if you can, but not necessary) then put them on an oven tray. Spray them with a Baking Spray (Crisco, Olive Oil - doesn't matter) and bake them in a really hot oven.Turn over once and enjoy!
Run water over them in a colander for a minute to break up any large chunks stuck together. Heat 2 tbs. olive oil or canola, veg. oil in a deep fry pan. Add some chopped onion, colored peppers if you like them, and the potatoes. Cook until softened and browned. While browning mix 6 eggs, or egg substitute, possibly some chopped cooked ham if you like that, or some already cooked bacon crumbled, some shredded cheese (choose what you have on hand like cheddar, mozzarella, etc.) Mix well and add to the pan. Push the contents towards the center of the pan to let the egg spread out and cook on med-low, spread the ingredients evenly back around the pan and cook until egg is set and not runny. You can eat it this way or you can set the oven to broil and PROVIDED YOU ARE USING AN OVENPROOF FRY PAN, stick under the broiler for a minute to brown the top. Cool and serve this delicious FRITTATA. Feel free to substitute anything you have on hand; that's what great about frittatas; meat or no meat, veggies, etc. I've made this was cubed zucchini, chopped tomatoes (squeeze out the juicy water) and low fat cheddar cheese....YUMMY! Enjoy! You can serve this with a salad in warmer weather or soup in cooler weather. Add a bit of bread or biscuits on the side and your meal is ready!
