Oriental Sesame Slaw
Terrific combination of Cabbage, Carrot and Jicama with a deliciously different dressing!
8-10 Servings
Ingredients:
1 Head green cabbage thinly shredded
1 Large carrot shredded
1C. Jicama shredded (peel off skin before shredding)
1 Tbsp. Black sesame seeds (optional)
1C. Mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Rice vinegar
1 Tbsp. Sesame oil
3 Tbsp. Honey
Put shredded cabbage, carrot, jicama and sesame seeds in large bowl. In separate bowl mix mayonnaise, vinegar, sesame oil and honey, add to cabbage mixture and chill for at least 4 hours before serving.

1/3 C. Bernstein's Restaurant Recipe Italian Dressing.
3/4 Tsp. Lemon Pepper

Pre heat grill med high heat
Lay Asparagus flat in 9X9 pan
Add dressing, lemon pepper, salt and pepper
Toss to coat

INGREDIENTS:
6-8 Medium Potatos Yukon Gold is best
4 Hard Boiled Eggs
8 Strips Bacon
1 Stalk Celery
2 Green Onions (optional)
1 Tbsp. Sweet Pickle Relish
3/4 C. Mayonnaise
3/4 C. Sour Cream
1 Tsp. Yellow Mustard
Salt and Pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:
Boil potatos in large pot of water until tender (easily pierced with fork) approx. 20 min. Drain, cool, peel (if desired), and cube. Cook eggs in saucepan filled approx. 3/4 full with water, boil water and cook eggs for 12 min. Drain and let cool. While potatos and eggs are cooling fry bacon until crisp, let cool and crumble. Chop celery and green onion and place in large bowl, grate eggs into bowl with cheese grater, add cubed potatos, relish and bacon. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream and yellow mustard then add to potato mixture, mix well. Salt and pepper to taste. If you want the potato salad to be creamier mix potatos in while slightly warm.

NC style slaw!!!! I do not like mayo so this is a perfect side for my tastes...........
To grated cabbage add grated carrot and green pepper mix with the same NC style sauce that the meat is covered in (which is usually a tomatoe, VINEGAR, and sugar type mix. Let sit and enjoy on a sandwhich or on the side with the meat. There are so many different types of sauce but since I an a native NClininan I(Piedmont area) I prefer the Lexington style sauce. I can be looked up under "lexinginton style bbq' if you want the exact recipies.......ENJOY!!!
I don't think I could pick just one favorite - I love them all!! I always fix homemade potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans & grilled corn on the cob. Sometimes, depending on the size of the gathering I also like to make pasta salad, cucumber salad, deviled eggs and fresh watermelon.......Nothing better than a good old fashioned southern bbq!!
Baked Beans
1 pound of ground beef
1 bottle of BBQ sauce
3-4 cans pinto beans
1 onion choped
1-2 cloves garlic minced
salt and pepper to taste
Brown and drain the meat. Mix the meat, beans, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and BBQ sauce together. Bake at 350 for 30 min.
I also like grilled corn on the cob!
Butter the corn cobs and wrap in alluminum foil. Grill until corn is tender. You can also throw some salt and pepper on it or wrap it in bacon and grill it.

Fried eggplant slices dipped into
soysauce with calamansi or lemmon sauce.
BBQ beans(on the grill), roasted corn on the cob, vinegar slaw(in my perfect world) however my husband likes creamy slaw, Texas garlic toast(on the grill) brownies and homemade vanilla ice cream.
BBQ BEANS
1/2 C finely chopped onion
2 slices bacon chopped
1/4 C brown sugar
1-2 TBS yellow mustard
1/4 C Ketchup
1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
2 lg. cans of Ranch Beans w/ jalape?o(optional)
In a 21/2 qt. cast iron footless dutch oven saute' bacon and onions until onions are tender. Add the next four ingredients and stir until sugar is melted and sauce comes to a slow bubble. Let simmer for about 10 minutes then add the beans and their liquid, stir gently to combine. Simmer until heated through then place dutch oven on the low heat side of your barbque and allow to simmer uncovered for about 45 mins. Be sure they do not dry out. After they have smoked a while place a lid on them and keep warm until serving.
Roasted Corn
Fresh corn still in green shucks(as many as you can eat)
Pull back shucks(leaving attached) and remove all of the silks.
Pull shucks back over the cob and place in a pan of tap water. Let soak for a few mins. Drain off excess water by placing on one towel an patting with another. Place corn on grill and let it cook 2-3 mins. on each side. You will have to turn it four times. Do not over cook your corn. When you bite into it it should be crisp and juicy. Serve with your favorite condiments. I am salt, pepper and butter gal. My daughter likes a chile flavored mayo. To serve pull back the shucks and use them to hold one end of the corn. OMG ambrosia
With the sweetness of the other sides I like a vinegar slaw. It is so easy. just shredded cabbage and carrots with plain distilled white vinegar, salt and pepper. Chill until ready to serve and toss it to coat.
Dessert
Brownies from a mix and Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice cream.(Take the short cuts where you can.)
This is a favorite at our BBQ party's goes great with anything try it, its a hit. I have a 10yrld daughter,she loves it.
1 head Napa or bok choy cabbage or reg cabbage works just as great
3 green onions
1 (3-ounce) package ramen noodles with seasoning pack
1 (6-ounce) package slivered almonds
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional) I don't use
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat the broiler.
cut the cabbage and slice the onions, and place in a large salad bowl. Crumble the noodles into a broiler pan, add the almonds, sesame seeds, and broil for 2 minutes or until a little toasted, being careful not to scorch the sesame seeds. In a jar with a tight lid, combine the oil, sugar, vinegar, and salt with the contents of the seasoning pack. Cover the jar and shake well to blend the dressing. Pour the dressing over the salad, add the toasted sesame and almond,don't mix until right before your ready to serve.
